On 22 September 2005, The Menteri Besar Johor, YAB Dato’ Haji Abdul Ghani Bin Haji Othman, made a working visit to the Gerbang Selatan Bersepadu project in Johor Bahru.

The working visit took place at 11.10a.m. and was greeted by Managing Director of Gerbang Perdana Sdn Bhd (GPSB) YB Dato’ Yahya A. Jalil. Also present were Johor State Secretary, YB Dato’ Hj. Mohd Razali Mahusin, Exco members, YB Tuan Haji Ahmad Zahri Bin Jamil, YB Tuan Haji Samat bin Aripin, YB Dr Hajah Robia bt. Dato’ Haji Kosai, YB Tuan Haji Zainal Abidin bin Haji Osman, YB En. Freddie Long, District Officers, Heads of Department and Agency of Johor State Government, JKR GSB project team staff and Management & Staff of GPSB.

Upon arrival at GSB project office, the Menteri Besar and the selected entourage were taken for a 30-minute tour of the new CIQ Complex under construction. At the project site, the walkabout briefing was carried out by Ir. Ng Ah Kow, Construction Manager of JKR GSB and YBhg Dato’ Yahya A. Jalil.

Despite the downpour after the CIQ complex site visit, the Menteri Besar proceeded with the tree planting ceremony at the office compound before proceeding to the exhibition hall where he viewed the landscape presentation materials and project model.

Lunch was served soon after the 40-minute briefing on the project progress and its economic benefits to Johor. At the lunch, the Menteri Besar was presented with a memento each by Ir Ng Ah Kow and Dato’ Yahya A. Jalil.

Before ending his visit, the Menteri Besar attended a 20 minutes press conference during which he expressed satisfaction with the progress of works for the CIQ and confident that upon completion, it will provide a facelift to Johor Bahru city.
